Day 2 Fieldwork 2026
Meeting AlmaU Students and Working on the Device and Workshop

After a good nights rest to beat the jet lag, we headed over to AlmaU for another day of work. We met with AlmaU student Zhansaya Omarova, who studies Restaurant and Hotel Business, and will be assisting us with our project. Today, she helped us with finding nearby locations to print our pamphlets for the AI in Medicine Workshop. The pamphlets are to both advertise the event and thank attendees. They also include a post-workshop survey, which will be very helpful in crafting an academic paper about AI in Medicine, which will be co-written with the Swello team.
For the device itself, we enhanced the coding for the matriculation of data on the website and app. We also debated whether or not to have certain emojis for a “How are you feeling?” check-in question. We also prepared questions for our upcoming meeting with someone who has taken care of a family member with Parkinson’s, created the appropriate consent forms for future shadows/focus groups, and further prepared for the AI in Medicine Workshop. To top all of our hard work off, we were treated to delicious Creme Brulee ice cream!
To prepare for our workshop, we reviewed our pre-survey to identify any new attendees and check for more responses that could help our future paper. We also reviewed the post-survey to double-check that what it was asking would be beneficial to us, and translated it into Russian for an easier time for the attendees. We also continued to reach out to local clinics and hospitals in an attempt to shadow their day-to-day operations, specifically dealing with neurological disorders, especially Parkinson’s Disease.
We started the morning tackling a lot of topics. On LinkedIn, we advertised the AI in Medicine Workshop on the NeuroTech Devices company page as well as the Central Asian Researchers Network page, a public group with over a thousand followers across multiple countries. Similarly, we also posted on Instagram to advertise the workshop. When posting on social media, we ensure to tag and mention any parties involved and people who have helped us to plan and host the event. This way, we extend our gratitude to them as well as highlight them to our own network.
